Omid Khorram, M.D., Ph.D., Medical Director.item7

Doctor Khorram is Professor In Residence of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA and director of division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Prior to relocation to California he was the director of division of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dr. Khorram helped establish one of the most successful ART programs in the Midwest and was named the best infertility specialist by his peers in the city of Madison, WI. From 2000-2006 he provided fertility care through the Harbor-UCLA Faculty Practice Plan and in 2006 he established University Fertility Center and University Fertility Laboratory a free standing center providing comprehensive cutting edge fertility services including artificial insemination, In vitro Fertilization, ICSI, donor egg IVF, surrogacy, donor embryos, oocyte and embryo cryopreservation and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and screening.

Dr. Khorram completed his undergraduate degree at University of California at Berkeley in Biochemistry.· He continued his studies at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where he obtained a Ph.D. in Physiology under the mentorship of Dr. Samuel McCann, a pioneer in the field of Neuroendocrinology.· He received the Nominata Award at University of Texas for the most outstanding graduate student. After one year of postdoctoral studies in the same institution he continued his education at Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas from where he received a Doctor of Medicine with honors in 1989.· Dr. Khorram completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California at San Francisco in 1993, and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California at San Diego. His clinical fellowship mentor, Dr. Samuel Yen is considered a pioneer and one of the most prominent authorities in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology. Following his fellowship Dr. Khorram joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he was promoted to the rank of associate professor and director of division in 2000.· Dr. Khorram moved to California in 2000 and assumed the position of Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.· He is an active investigator who has authored over 80 original research publications in peer reviewed journals, and has received a number of awards including the Sigma Xi award for research, Berlex Scholar Award, Ortho ACOG award, James Kennedy Award and Ames Broen Award for teaching.· His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and American Heart Association.· Most recently his research has focused on developmental origins of human adult disease.· This research is aimed at determining how the uterine environment programs the offspring to develop adult diseases such as obesity and hypertension. The second area of research is in pathophysiology uterine fibroids. His clinical interests are in Assisted Reproductive Technologies, recurrent pregnancy loss, endometriosis, and polycystic ovary syndrome. He has special expertise in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques, and microsurgery. Dr. Khorram is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and is a fellow of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Hak-Nam Kim, D.V.M., Ph.D., HCLD, Laboratory Directoritem8

Dr. Kim received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from·Seoul City University and Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.· He has over 25 years of experience directing human In Vitro Fertilization Laboratories.· In 1995 he became board certified as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director.· He has conducted research in various aspects of Reproductive Physiology and has published over 30 peer reviewed articles.· The IVF laboratories that Dr. Kim has managed have always had among the highest success rates in terms of live births in the United States.
